April 12th, 2011 No comments

I took the 640-822  ICND1, CCENT exam yesterday (on my birthday, woot!) and passed, with authority! I have been sailing around on cloud 9 since then.

Now onto the ICND2 exam/CCNA certification!

IOS commands that need remembering

April 3rd, 2011 No comments

For some reason the following commands will not stick in my head, most likely because I have not used them much.

Port Security (sticky mac, security protect):
Switch(config)#int fa0/1
Switch(config-if)#switchport mode access
Switch(config-if)#switchport port-security mac-address sticky
Switch(config-if)#switchport port-security violation protect
Allow SSH Connections (telnet bad!):
Switch(config)#username philip password K33pItS@fe
Switch(config)# ip domain-name philipstraatsma.local
Switch(config)#crypto key generate rsa
Choose the size of the key modulus in the range of 360 to 2048 for your
General Purpose Keys. Choosing a key modulus greater than 512 may take
a few minutes.
How many bits in the modulus [512]:1024
% Generating 1024 bit RSA keys, keys will be non-exportable…[OK]
Switch(config)#line vty 0 4
Switch(config-line)#login local
Switch(config-line)#transport input ssh
Default gateway:
Switch(config)#ip default-gateway 192.168.1.1
